Job Title: Business Manager

Status: 24 Hours Minimum/Week-12 Month Calendar (TBD) 

Starting Date: When filled

Salary: $25.60 - $41.08/hr ($38,912 - $62,442.34) DOE-Negotiable

Position Purpose: 

This position is responsible for administering the system-wide business functions of the school.

Core Job Functions:

  • To direct the operation of the Business Office which includes accounting, auditing, purchasing, and payroll, and investing activities.
  • Preparation of the budget.
  • To process and maintain information as necessary to submit required federal and state reports in a timely fashion.
  • To maintain current knowledge about the federal and state laws and regulations governing the fiscal operation of the school.
  • Act as the central point of contact with the Oregon Department of Education for reporting requirements as related to business services. Identify and track the completion of routine reports and respond to special inquiries.
  • Perform entry-level accounting, preparation of detailed records, budgets, and bookkeeping. Prepare, maintain, and reconcile account records, statements, and reports.
  • Provides budget report information to the Board at the monthly board meetings.
  • Ensures that all Grant and Public contracting requirements are adhered to.
  • Prepares for annual audit of financial statements.
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned, to support the success of the school.
  • Assist with Human Resource duties and employee benefits.

  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data, agreements and contracts and develop recommendations to improve routines and procedures in the area of assignment. 
  • Ability to complete mathematical computations accurately and rapidly.
  • Ability to complete and tabulate complex statistical data and prepare accurate reports and summaries. 
  • Ability to maintain confidential information. 
  • Ability to use computer technology and business software efficiently and effectively. 
  • Knowledge of school and charter school laws and follows and supports school policies and procedures. 
  • Knowledge of reports required by law relative to fiscal management. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of state laws governing fiscal operation of public agencies. 
  • Demonstrated insight, intelligence, and problem-solving ability. 
  • Valid driver's license and own transportation. 
  • Must be bondable. 
  • Must pass criminal records and fingerprinting check.

 

Education and Experience

  • Associates Degree required, Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field preferred. 
  • 3-5 years budgeting and/or accounting experience in the public sector preferred. 
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as deemed appropriate and acceptable.

 

Working Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the core functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee works with standard office equipment with moving mechanical parts and computers. Position involves use of hands, sitting, and walking.

 

Evaluation: 

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of Mosier Community School Board policy on evaluation.

 

Terms of Employment: 

Number of days per year negotiated based on job requirements and work life balance.
