Job Purpose Statement/s:  In order to create an encouraging learning environment for students while their regular Teacher is absent, the Substitute Teacher will need to effectively manage and instruct the class from roll call through to tidying up the classroom after the students have left. Some of the Substitute Teacher’s duties and responsibilities include:

 

Job Qualifications & Licensure:        

 

• BA/BS or higher degree (preferred) with a major in one or more of the following areas: Curriculum, Elementary Education, Reading, Early Childhood Education, or similar

*Valid Oregon Teaching License

     • Restricted Substitute Licenses require a bachelor's degree in any subject.

     • Emergency Substitute Licenses (2022-2024) require some college and experience with children in an educational  environment.

• Skills to motivate students, communicate with individuals from varied educational and cultural backgrounds, direct support personnel, evaluate performance.

• Knowledge of age appropriate teaching methods, state curriculum framework, education code, appropriate instructional subjects.

• Holds and maintains an appropriate license from the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission in the State of Oregon.
